Description

Ricotta French Toast is a rich and creamy twist on the classic, featuring fluffy bread soaked in a vanilla-cinnamon custard, cooked to golden perfection, and topped with whipped ricotta and honey.


Ingredients

For the French Toast: 

 4 thick slices of brioche or challah bread  

 2 large eggs  

 1/2 cup whole milk  

 1 tsp vanilla extract  

 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon  

 1 tbsp sugar  

 Pinch of salt  

 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)  

For the Ricotta Topping:

 1/2 cup ricotta cheese  

 1 tbsp honey (plus more for drizzling)  

 1/2 tsp lemon zest  

 1/2 tsp vanilla extract  

Optional Toppings:

 Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)  

 Maple syrup  

 Powdered sugar  

 Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios)  


Instructions

1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar, and salt.  

2. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.  

3. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, ensuring it’s evenly coated.  

4. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.  

5. In a separate bowl, whisk together ricotta, honey, lemon zest, and vanilla until smooth.  

6. Serve French toast warm, topped with ricotta mixture, fresh berries, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.  

Notes

  •  Use brioche or challah for the best texture.  
  •  For extra flavor, add a splash of orange juice to the custard.  
  •  Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar for a classic touch.
