Description
This shrimp casserole combines succulent shrimp with creamy, cheesy goodness, all baked to perfection, making it a family favorite and perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tablespoon salt (for cooking water)
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter (plus more to grease the pan)
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 ounces shredded medium cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish with butter.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Stir in the Old Bay seasoning. Add the shrimp to the boiling water and cook until they become opaque, which should take about 30 seconds. Drain and then transfer the shrimp to a mixing bowl.
- In the bowl with the cooked shrimp, mix in the mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper, stirring gently to coat. Fold in both the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses until well combined. Transfer this mixture to the greased casserole dish.
- Melt the butter and mix it with the panko bread crumbs. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the shrimp filling.
- Bake the casserole uncovered for 13-15 minutes. Subsequently, broil for an additional 1-2 minutes to achieve a delightful golden crust. Once baked, let the casserole rest for about 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, use fresh shrimp and feel free to experiment with cheese combinations or add a hint of spice.
