Can You Make Bread Without Bread Flour?

Description

Make soft and delicious bread without bread flour using all-purpose flour, perfect for homemade baking.


Ingredients

  •  3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour  
  •  1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast  
  •  1 cup (240ml) warm water (110°F/45°C)  
  •  1 tbsp sugar or honey  
  •  1 tsp salt  
  •  2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter  

Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.  

2. Add salt, oil, and half of the flour. Stir until combined.  

3. Gradually add the remaining flour, kneading for about 8–10 minutes until dough is smooth.  

4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.  

5. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased pan.  

6. Cover and let rise for another 30–40 minutes.  

7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).  

8. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.  

9. Let cool before slicing. Enjoy!  

Notes

  •  All-purpose flour works well but may result in a slightly softer texture.  
  •  For a chewier bread, add 1 tsp of vital wheat gluten.  
  •  Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
