Description

A delightful combination of sweet, ripe pears and savory blue cheese, perfect for appetizers or elegant dinners.

Ingredients

  • 3 large Bosc pears
  • 1-2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 1/2 oz blue cheese (Danish blue cheese, crumbled)
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3 sprigs fresh thyme (removed from the stem)
  • 1-2 tbsps honey
  • 1/2 tsp Aleppo pepper
  • Flaky salt, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400℉.
  2. Slice the pears in half lengthwise and remove the core and seeds. Place the pear halves cut side up in a cast iron skillet or baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper, then turn the pears cut side down.
  3. Transfer the pears to the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes.
  4. Remove the pears, flip them cut side up, and stuff each half with blue cheese, walnuts, and thyme. Return to the oven and bake for another 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese melts and tops are golden.
  5. Mix honey with Aleppo pepper, drizzle over the pears, and garnish with flaky salt and thyme. Serve warm.

Notes

For more intense flavor, use aged blue cheese. Adding a sprinkle of fresh herbs can enhance presentation.
